DRAWING & PAINTING
Learning to observe the things around us more intentionally is something we explore in class. Noticing over arching shapes, blocks of color and the variations of hue (pigment of color) and value (light and dark) are all important when drawing or painting landscape, still life or portraits. Students receive artist tools through samples, discussions and exercises on perspective, underpainting, over painting, types and techniques of brushes and more. Supplies used in class include water based paints such as watercolor, acrylic or gouache as well as tracing & carbon paper, pencils and watercolor paper, canvas or art boards.
