DRAWING & PAINTING invite AH HA MOMENTS!
Ah Ha moment: A sudden revelation that elicits joy from a new understanding.

Hello, I'm Sarah Nowlin, and I teach art classes to students of all skill levels.
I have my Bachelor of Fine Arts from University of Memphis, and have been working as an artist and designer in the Memphis community for over 20 years utilizing artistic skills such as: illustration, set, wardrobe and predominately graphic design. Over the last 10 years my focus has been increasing on guiding individuals in creative growth and inspiration. Workshops and curriculum I create is directed toward skill building and experience based enlightenment. Each class is designed or adjusted to most benefit the students, while considering the environments, capabilities and specific interests. In addition to working as art instructor at an adult memory care facility, I have led workshops and classes in a wide variety of senior care facilities, nursing homes, centers, hospitals and communities throughout Shelby County–most recently working in conjunction with Creative Aging in Memphis, TN.
Most participants are in a golden stage of life. They include those who now have time to dive into new hobbies and discover passions and skills that might have been hidden. Whether retired at home or living in communities, I have noticed one common thread among those I teach. It's a spark of joy or peaceful countenance that comes from learning and delving into a focused zone while painting, drawing or expressing through visual arts. I believe each individual has a story to tell and a unique "fingerprint" or style in which to illustrate. My goal is to stir confidence, encouragement, deeper thought and technical art skills to aid students in that personal journey of expression. Ah Ha Moments happen every time we have a class.
